The SLAP 5-TMS™ is designed for use in the photomediated synthesis of thiomorpholines and thiazepanes when combined with aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes. This innovative silicon amine protocol, developed in collaboration with the Bode Research Group, offers a tin-free alternative to traditional SnAP (tin amine protocol) reagents, making it particularly advantageous for large-scale reactions. The process involves photovoltaic cross-coupling using the SLAP Reagent and the photocatalyst Ir[(ppy)2dtbbpy]PF6. For optimal results, a starting mixture of Lewis acids, specifically Bi(OTf)3 and Cu(OTf)2, is recommended before further substrate-specific adjustments.
