Product Description

MPA-CPA is a high-performance self-assembled monolayer (SAM) material designed for use as a hole transport or extraction layer in advanced photovoltaic devices, including non-fullerene acceptor (NFA)-based organic solar cells and p-i-n structured perovskite solar cells.

Chemical Structure of MPA-CPA

This molecule features a phosphonic acid anchoring group, a cyano-vinyl π-linker, and a bis(4-methoxyphenyl)amine terminal unit. Its molecular architecture enables precise interfacial engineering to promote the growth of uniform, defect-suppressed perovskite films.

Thanks to its amphiphilic design, MPA-CPA exhibits excellent surface wettability and controlled molecular orientation. The hydrophilic cyano-vinyl and phosphonic acid functionalities enhance adhesion to the substrate and facilitate the formation of continuous perovskite layers without pre-wetting treatment. Meanwhile, the hydrophobic methoxy-substituted triarylamine segment contributes to vertical alignment and hole selectivity at the interface.

The phosphonic and cyano groups coordinate with lead ions to form Pb–O and Pb–N interactions, effectively passivating interfacial defects and suppressing non-radiative recombination. Perovskite films deposited on MPA-CPA-treated substrates exhibit improved photoluminescence quantum yield and enhanced operational stability.

MPA-CPA provides a viable alternative to PEDOT:PSS, offering superior hole extraction capability with the added benefits of low-temperature, solution-based processing at concentrations as low as 1 mM.
