    Application
Poly(vinyl Alcohol) is a versatile polymer known for its odorless, white to cream-colored granular form. With a degree of polymerization of approximately 2000 and a saponification level around 80mol%, it is primarily utilized across various applications due to its unique properties. It acts as a pharmaceutic aid and ophthalmic lubricant and finds use in the production of surface coatings, artificial sponges, and cosmetics. Notably, Poly(vinyl Alcohol) can be fabricated into strong films, tubes, and fibers that exhibit significant resistance to hydrocarbon solvents. Its water-solubility allows it to be incorporated into topical pharmaceutical and ophthalmic formulations, offering benefits as a stabilizing and viscosity-increasing agent. Additionally, it enhances drug delivery systems, serves in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy fiber-optic sensors, and supports transparent conducting oxides. The polymer can be made water-insoluble through drawing or cross-linking processes, and is instrumental in creating artificial tears, contact lens solutions, sustained-release oral formulations, and transdermal patches. When combined with a glutaraldehyde solution, it also forms microspheres for specialized applications.
