Poly(propylene glycol) bis(2-aminopropyl ether) serves as a versatile agent, known for its light yellow or colorless appearance and advantageous properties such as low viscosity, low vapor pressure, and high primary amine content. These characteristics make it soluble in a variety of solvents, including ethanol and various hydrocarbons, esters, glycol ethers, ketones, and water. It exhibits good resistance to alkalis and water and moderate resistance to acids, making it ideal for enhancing epoxy resin applications. When used as a curing agent, it imparts excellent electrical properties to epoxy resins, making it suitable for use in coatings, potting materials, construction materials, composites, and adhesives. As an amine-terminated polyether with a soft polyether backbone, this compound can effectively replace traditional polyethers in certain material processes, thereby improving the performance of new materials. Its reactivity due to the active hydrogen allows for its widespread use in polyurethane reactive injection molding materials, polyurea spraying, and as an additive in gasoline scavengers.
