Application
The purpose of the perovskite single crystal is to leverage the superior optoelectronic properties of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) for high-efficiency solar cells. This material offers enhanced thermal stability, a broad absorption spectrum extending into the red, and an ideal bandgap (~1.4 eV) aligning closely with the Shockley-Queisser limit. These advantages stem from FAPbI3's high-symmetry cubic α-phase structure. However, at room temperature, this phase tends to transition towards a more stable hexagonal yellow δ-phase, as the cubic phase is not thermodynamically stable below 150 °C. Using perovskite single crystals can help mitigate these challenges and optimize solar cell performance.
