Application
Oil-soluble cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dots are primarily utilized for their exceptional luminescent properties, making them suitable for a range of advanced applications. These quantum dots serve as key components in producing tunable fluorescent materials, offering vibrant red, yellow, or green hues when combined with CdS on appropriate substrates like glass or silicon. Characterized by a cubic or hexagonal crystal structure, cadmium selenide exhibits high purity and transforms into a striking red when exposed to sunlight. This property is leveraged in various fields, including its role as a photoconductive detector with a sharp response in the range of 0.3 to 0.72 μm, peaking at 0.7 μm. The high peak detectivity and rapid response time of CdSe enable its use in cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, helping in the creation of photoconductive films, infrared filters, and possibly in the electrofabrication of microdiode arrays. Its adaptability and performance characteristics make it an indispensable material in both research and commercial technology sectors.
