Application
Lead titanium oxide serves as a versatile material due to its unique properties. It transitions from yellow tetragonal crystals below 490°C to cubic forms above that temperature. This compound can be synthesized by calcining stoichiometric amounts of PbO and TiO2 at 400°C or by precipitating it from an aqueous solution of lead nitrate, titanium tetrachloride, and ammonium hydroxide, and then calcining at 900°C. Widely employed as a paint pigment, lead titanium oxide also finds significant application in the electronics industry. In its high purity form of 99.9%, it is used as a sputtering target for thin film capacitors, which are critical components in various devices. Additionally, the material is integral to the production of ceramic capacitors, ceramic filters, PTC thermal resistors, pressure-sensitive resistors, and transducers, showcasing its versatility in enhancing the performance of these technologies.
