Application

Indium Antimonide serves as an essential material in semiconductor electronics due to its versatile properties and applications. This crystalline solid is instrumental in creating p-n junctions through various methods, such as doping a melt with an acceptor impurity like zinc or cadmium and combining it with an n-type crystal. Innovative techniques, including rate-grown junctions and broad-area surface junctions, are also employed, wherein antimony out-diffuses in vacuum from the surface of an n-type crystal, resulting in a p-n junction just beneath the surface. Additionally, Indium Antimonide exhibits photoconductive, photoelectromagnetic, and magnetoresistive properties, making it particularly valuable as an infrared detector and filter, as well as in Hall effect devices.
