Application

Its primary purpose is to act as an intermediate in organic synthesis, effectively blocking hydroxyl and amino groups to facilitate further reactions that would otherwise be hindered by active hydrogen presence. This silylating method enables subsequent chemical processes, with blocked groups being recoverable through hydrolysis. Additionally, dimethyldiethoxysilane enhances the properties of epoxy resins and sensor surfaces, including Pd/SiO2 hydrogen gas sensors, by improving gas detection capabilities. It also serves as a precursor in synthesizing ultrafine SiC powders and is utilized in creating hydrophobic and release materials, optimizing powder flow, and contributing to the production of ORMOSIL and thin a-SiOxCyHz films.
