Application
Copper(II) phthalocyanine, β-form, with a dye content of 90%, serves a wide array of purposes across various industries and scientific applications. As a dark blue fine crystalline powder, it is integral in photosensitizer chemistry for consistent polymerization, luminescence chemistry, and spectrophotometric analysis. Its versatility extends to its use as a pigment in enamels, linoleum, inks, plastics, and rubber goods, and in the production of rewritable CDs and DVDs via photoisomerizable phthalocyanines. In the field of organic photovoltaics, it functions as an electron donor, achieving a power conversion efficiency of around 4% when doped with pentacene. Additionally, Copper(II) phthalocyanine enhances the performance of light-emitting diodes by efficiently facilitating hole injection and improving device stability. Its applications further encompass organic solar cells, biosensitizers, and display technologies like OLEDs, OTFTs, wearable displays, and e-paper. With very weak absorption in the 400 to 500 nm range, it is particularly suited for blue and green OLEDs. The compound's effective electron-blocking properties also benefit inorganic-organic hybrid perovskite solar cells when used as a hole-transporting layer. Its physical attributes, such as high heat and light fastness, acid and alkali resistance, and specific surface area, along with its chemical stability, contribute to its extensive utility.
