Application
Benzylamine, a colorless liquid with an ammoniacal odor, serves as a valuable derivatization agent aimed at enhancing the sensitivity of 5-hydroxyindoles, catecholamines, and catechols in biological samples. Prior to their analysis via high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection, benzylamine is utilized to improve the detection capabilities of these compounds. This primary amine, characterized by having a benzyl group as its N-substituent, can also be naturally sourced from the horseradish tree, Moringa oleifera.
