Application
Antioxidant 1024 serves as a non-staining, high molecular weight, hindered phenolic antioxidant and metal deactivator primarily designed to enhance the performance of polymers exposed to sour gasoline. This crystalline powder provides robust antioxidant protection in various conditions, including immersion, dry-out, and aging tests, due to its excellent extraction resistance in fuels and oils. By deactivating metal catalyst residues, it improves heat and light stability, making it ideal for use in polyolefins and similar polymers. When combined with Antioxidants 58 and 60, Antioxidant 1024 further enhances heat resistance and metal deactivation properties, rendering it effective in a variety of applications such as EPDM, crosslinked polyethylene, nylon, polyacetal, and nitrile polymers. Its efficient melting nature ensures seamless incorporation with numerous polymeric substances, especially in the production of insulated electric wires and cables. The recommended dosage is 0.02-0.50% in plastics and 2 phr in rubber by weight. Additionally, its compatibility with phenolic antioxidants, phosphites/phosphonites, thio-synergists, and other co-additives extends its applications to packaging polymers, resins, and adhesives used in food contact materials-an approval recognized by the FDA and several international regulatory bodies. Moreover, Antioxidant 1024 is particularly suited for use in PA, PE, rubbers, and PP applications.
