It can undergo graft copolymerization with poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) and silicon surfaces, which, along with oxidative copolymerization with aniline, enhances the conductivity of these materials. Additionally, 4-Aminostyrene can couple with hydrogen-terminated silicon surfaces, enabling the deposition of electroless metal and synthetic metal layers. Furthermore, it forms palladium(II) Schiff base complexes derived from allylamine and vinylaniline, acting as a second surfactant for coating nanomagnetic particles. It is also employed in the functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotubes through a solvent-free process, highlighting its significance as a member of the styrenes class in various industrial and research applications.
