Application
1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane, 96%, serves a versatile purpose across various industrial and technological applications due to its unique chemical properties. It is integral in producing thin film transistors and enhancing polyethersulfone membranes, besides being crucial in the development of superwettable Janus membranes. Additionally known as perfluoroalkylethyltrimethoxysilane (PFATES), this compound plays an essential role in bonding poly(tetrafluoroethylene) films to silicon wafers. It is also widely used in anti-reflective, release, and soil-repellent coatings because of its ability to enhance the surface characteristics of materials. As an anti-fingerprint agent, it protects glass surfaces found in advanced mobile phone screens and camera lenses. PFDTES can functionalize hydrophobic ceramic membranes with nanosized pores and is used to treat Cu2(OH)3NO3 crystals for hydrophobicity. Its application spans to coating nanosized medical devices and ensuring the superhydrophobicity of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), effectively safeguarding metal surfaces from fouling. Furthermore, PFDTES offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for superamphiphobic spray coatings on stainless steel, which can prevent icing and stains. It is also employed in modifying poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) surfaces to facilitate the fabrication of microfluidic chips.
