It possesses a high triplet energy of approximately 2.91 eV and a very deep highest occupied molecular orbital level, which makes it particularly effective in this capacity. Notably, when mCP is used as a host material doped with the blue emitter FIrpic, the photoluminescence internal quantum yield can nearly reach 100%, as demonstrated by Kawamura et al. Beyond its application in diodes, mCP is employed in the development of hole transport materials for solar cells due to its enhanced stability compared to similar alternatives like 1,4-Bis(diphenylamino)benzene. It also finds use as a component in organic semiconductor layers for the creation of multilayer organic-based light-emitting transistors and serves as a valuable organic synthetic backbone material.
