Tris(Trimethylsilyl) Borate serves as a multifunctional additive improving the performance of lithium-ion batteries and acting as an intermediate in organic synthesis By enhancing the cycle performance of high-voltage cathode materials like LiMn2O4 and LiNi05Co02Mn03O2 it provides a protective cathode function It also optimizes the cycle life of Li-ion batteries with LiMn2O4 and LiFePO4 cathodes at elevated temperatures such as 55 °C Tris(Trimethylsilyl) Borate is shown to form a thin dense cathode-electrolyte interphase (CEI) film rich in Si–O and B–O bonds effectively reducing interfacial resistance growth and facilitating lithium-ion transfer These properties make it highly effective compared to alternatives like Tris(Trimethylsilyl) Phosphate by easily interacting with lithium ions and modifying the solvation structure to enhance cycling performance
