    Application
Tetrafluorotetracyanoquinodimethane, purified by sublimation, is a yellow-greenish or orange-brown powder that serves as a highly effective p-type dopant utilized in various organic electronic materials. This compound is particularly notable for its application in hole-only devices and field-effect transistors with organic hole transport layers, where its strong electron-accepting ability and extended π system enhance performance. With a deep LUMO level of -5.2 eV, F4TCNQ aligns well energetically with the HOMO levels of numerous organic semiconductors, facilitating efficient charge transfer. It is instrumental in forming bilayer structures with materials like pentacene to study and improve the thermoelectric performance of organic thin films. Additionally, devices doped with F4TCNQ, such as pin devices using 4,4',4''-tris(3-methylphenylphenylamino)triphenylamine (m-MTDATA) for the p-doped HTL, achieve high luminance and efficiency at minimal operating voltages; for example, achieving 1000 cd/m² at just 2.9 V. In solar applications, adjusting the F4TCNQ doping concentration in PCDTBT:F4TCNQ solar cells can boost power conversion efficiency from 6.41% to 7.94%, primarily by enhancing photocurrent with a blend concentration below 0.5%. F4TCNQ is also effectively used as a p-type dopant for graphenes, underlining its versatility and significance in the field of organic electronics.
