Description
Ethylene appears as a colorless gas with a sweet odor and taste. It is lighter than air. It is easily ignited and a flame can easily flash back to the source of the leak. Under prolonged exposure to fire or heat the containers may rupture violently and rocket. Can cause explosion.;Ethylene, refrigerated liquid (cryogenic liquid) appears as a pressurized liquid when shipped below 50°F. Colorless with a sweet odor and taste. Vapors arising from the boiling liquid are lighter than air. Easily ignited. Not toxic but is a simple asphyxiant. Under prolonged exposure to fire or intense heat the containers may rupture violently and rocket. Used as an anesthetic, a refrigerant, and to make other chemicals.;Polyethylene as is a white powder (microbeads). Tough and flexible at room temperatures. Application
Polyethylene chlorosulfonated is designed as a versatile synthetic elastomer with a unique combination of properties, making it ideal for demanding applications such as sheeting, electric wire and cable insulation, and rubber hoses. The material is developed by reacting polyethylene with chlorine and sulfur dioxide, transforming the thermoplastic into a durable elastomer that can be further enhanced through vulcanization. This process endows the polymer with remarkable resistance to ozone, abrasion, weather, heat, and flame, along with minimal moisture absorption and good dielectric properties. It withstands chemical attacks from oxidizing agents and maintains its superior mechanical properties over prolonged use at elevated temperatures. Additionally, its rigidity in low temperatures and compatibility with various colors, thanks to the absence of carbon black reinforcement, make it suitable for diverse industrial applications. Although the cost restricts its use mainly to high-performance situations, like in demanding electrical or environmental conditions, its resilience to oil and flame aligns it closely with properties of materials like neoprene.
