Application
Dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid (DBSA) serves multiple important roles in various industrial and chemical processes. It is utilized as a dopant for conducting polymers, enhancing their electrical properties. As a strong acid catalyst, it is employed in the formation of amino cross-linked coatings and in the esterification of fatty acids for biodiesel production. Additionally, DBSA acts as a Brønsted acid catalyst in the green synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives, which hold significant pharmacological potential. Its application extends to protecting metals against corrosion through electrodeposition with polypyrrole films. DBSA is also instrumental in developing nanofluids with improved thermal conductivity by doping polyaniline, and it is used in degreasers for the food industry, as well as in the manufacture of detergents and chemicals for electronics cleaning and pickling baths. While not approved for use in EU countries, it is utilized in the U.S. and several other nations, supported by a network of 30 global suppliers.
