Application
(3-Mercaptopropyl)Trimethoxysilane is a versatile compound, primarily serving as an essential capping molecule for cadmium sulphide nanocrystals. It finds application in preparing multi-walled carbon nanotubes and is instrumental in forming bilayer modified gold electrodes. This compound acts as a linking agent in gold multilayer preparation and functions as a molecular adhesive for constructing vapor-deposited gold electrodes on glass substrates. Additionally, it serves as a precursor for silica and can be coated with titanium dioxide, cerium dioxide, and lanthanum oxide to protect quaternary bronze against corrosion, particularly in urban environments. In the petroleum industry, it is utilized as a silica nanofluid to enhance the surface properties of berea sandstone, thereby improving oil recovery efficiency. MPTMS also forms composites with kaolin, which are effective in removing heavy metals from wastewater. Moreover, it facilitates the formation of a bilayer with multi-walled carbon nanotubes on gold electrodes, enabling the study of the electrochemical characteristics of fluphenazine.
