    Application
2,2-Bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane is primarily utilized in the production of advanced polyimide materials. This compound, often referred to as 4-BDAF, boasts a unique structure where two phenoxyanilines are connected by a hexafluoroisopropane unit, making it an ideal candidate for creating both semicrystalline and amorphous fluorinated polyimides. These polyimides are notable for their excellent thermal stability and high transition temperatures, which are essential for applications demanding robust heat resistance. Specifically, polyimides derived from 4-BDAF and trimellitic anhydride are semi-crystalline, exhibiting a melting point of 472°C. However, by introducing 6F dianhydride as a copolymer monomer, the melting point can be modified to 440°C, offering versatility in processing and application. Moreover, polyimides based on 1,1-bis(4-aminophenyl)-1-phenyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethane are distinguished by their solubility and amorphous nature, with glass transition temperatures surpassing 420°C. These distinctive fluoropolyimide systems are under active investigation for their potential in high-temperature applications, underscoring their significance in advanced material development.
