Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

We are looking for aspiring synthetic chemists and are eager to see them join our team. As a medicinal chemistry scientist at Alfa Chemistry, you will play an important role in our large and multidisciplinary team, from the beginning of the project to the delivery of clinical drug candidates. You will make an important contribution to medicinal chemistry by developing and implementing innovative synthetic chemistry, and help innovate our methods of discovering and developing small molecules and synthetic drugs.

Basic Skills

• Based on discussions with team members, troubleshoot and optimize the synthetic route, including the development of a modular route for rapid simulation generation and an efficient and scalable route for the development of preclinical drug candidates.
• Use the active route to integrate the medicinal chemistry goals in the project.
• Establish effective partnerships with other research departments, especially analytical, technical, and pharmaceutical science groups to effectively execute deliverables.
• Comply with all safety, scientific record-keeping, and compliance requirements
• Actively participate in discussions and present results in group meetings.

Qualifications

Basic

Master's degree in synthetic organic chemistry; 3 years or more of work experience as a synthetic organic chemist.

Grasping a solid knowledge of the reaction mechanism and reactivity of synthetic organic chemistry. Familiar with various reaction types, and having demonstrated the multi-step synthesis, purification and characterization of organic compounds, especially NMR and mass spectrometry.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and project team members (verbal and written).

Preferred

Demonstrated independence in the laboratory and in problem-solving through careful experiment design, data analysis, and mechanistic insight.

Physical/Mental

The ability to conduct organic chemistry experiments in a standard chemistry laboratory is required.
