Application

δ-Valerolactone is a versatile monomer useful in synthesizing poly(δ-valerolactone)s and poly(conjugated ester)s through ring-opening polymerization. This clear to pale yellow liquid also serves as a key starting material for the production of compounds such as (+)-guadinomic acid, sodium δ-hydroxyvalerate, methyl δ-hydroxyvalerate, and 5-hydroxyvaleraldehyde.
