Application
Tremin 283 Wollastonite is a versatile material used primarily for its functional properties across various industries. It is a naturally occurring calcium silicate mineral found in metamorphic rocks, known for its distinct white to brown, red, gray, or yellow appearance, and possessing a vitreous to pearly luster. With a Mohs hardness of 4.5-5, Tremin 283 is particularly suitable as a ceramics component, a paint extender, and in the coatings of welding rods. Its role extends to being an effective rubber filler, silica gel component, paper coating agent, and filler in plastics, cements, and wallboards. Additionally, Tremin 283 is utilized in mineral wool production and serves as a soil conditioner. It forms through geological processes involving high temperature and pressure applied to impure limestone, often in the presence of silica-bearing fluids. This product, named after the chemist and mineralogist William Wollaston, crystallizes in a triclinic system, providing reliable and beneficial properties for industrial applications.
