Application
Tert-Butyl Methacrylate Monomer (stabilized with MEHQ) is a versatile chemical used primarily for the synthesis of polymers. Its high reactivity and hydrophobic properties make it an ideal component for forming homo and block copolymers through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). These copolymers have potential applications in a variety of fields such as coatings, biomaterials, and flocculants. Additionally, the monomer can be copolymerized with a range of substances, including (meth)acrylic acids, esters, acrylonitrile, and various vinyl compounds. It is valuable in emulsion polymerization like other well-known acrylates. As a chemical feedstock, it undergoes addition reactions with diverse compounds, enhancing the resultant polymers with improved chemical resistance, adhesion, hydrophobicity, hardness, scratch and heat resistance, as well as high solids and weatherability.
