Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) resins are primarily used as interlayer materials in the production of safety glass, owing to their outstanding optical clarity, weather resistance, and impact strength. These resins ensure the glass remains undistorted across a broad temperature range, thanks to their unique combination of rigidity and flexibility. A key attribute of PVB resins is their excellent adhesion to glass surfaces, making them an ideal choice for laminating safety glass. The high molecular weight variant of PVB resin is often combined with 30-40% plasticizer, then extruded into films for this purpose.
