As an acceptor for pristine C70, it acts as an efficient sensitizer for triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion, demonstrating enhanced stability under continuous laser irradiation relative to the standard Pt(II)-octaethylporphyrin. Additionally, Perylene is utilized as a blue fluorescent dye dopant in white-emitting polymer films, showcasing its versatility as a dye and in metabolites. Its unique structure as an ortho- and peri-fused polycyclic arene comprises five benzene rings, forming anthracene, wherein the d,e and k,l sides are fused to additional benzene rings.
