Application
P type Bismuth(III) telluride is a versatile semiconductor material primarily used for thermoelectric cooling and power generation applications. It appears as a gray or black crystalline solid or gray powder and has a molecular weight of 800.83, with a specific gravity of 7.7. It has a melting point of 573℃ and does not exert vapor pressure at 20℃. In commercial settings, P type Bismuth(III) telluride is often doped with selenium sulfide to enhance its electrical conductivity. This modification makes it suitable for various applications, especially in thermoelectric devices. Although insoluble in water, both doped and undoped forms exhibit similar physical properties. Commercially available mixtures may contain a significant percentage of bismuth tritelluride along with stannous telluride and some tellurium. Despite its practical advantages, users should be aware of its health, flammability, and reactivity ratings, which are each classified as '2' according to the NFPA-704 rating system.
