Application

N749 Black Dye is a versatile ruthenium complex designed to significantly enhance photocatalytic performance across various applications. One of its primary purposes is to modify the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO), thereby improving the efficiency of hydrogen evolution systems. Furthermore, N749 functions as a high-efficiency dye for niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) photoanodes, which are integral to the creation of titanium oxide (TiO2) coated dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Developed for broad spectral sensitization of wide band-gap oxide semiconductors, N749 black dye effectively extends sensitivity to wavelengths beyond 800 nm. Its structure, comprising a terpyridine ligand with three carboxyl groups and three thiocyanato ligands around a ruthenium center, enables it to perform these functions optimally.
