Application

Lead zirconate is a versatile material that transforms from a colorless cubic perovskite structure at temperatures above 230°C to either pseudotetragonal or orthorhombic below this temperature. Produced by heating precise amounts of lead and zirconium oxides, it exhibits exceptional piezoelectric properties. This makes it ideal for use in high-power acoustic transducers and hydrophones, as well as serving as a 99.7% pure sputtering target for thin film capacitors. As an important member of the electroceramics field, lead zirconate is closely related to lead zirconate titanate (PZT), which is renowned for its use in ferroelectric devices due to its remarkable piezoelectric, dielectric, and elastic properties.
