It is a versatile reactant used in the preparation of 4-isobutylisoquinoline from 4-bromoisoquinoline through a Suzuki-Miyaura type coupling reaction. Additionally, it functions as a catalyst, alongside aluminum hydroxide and boric acid, during the polymerization of styrene. Isobutaneboronic acid is also employed in copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions and the synthesis of polyborylalkanes via Ir-catalyzed C-H borylation reactions. Furthermore, it facilitates the preparation of heterosubstituted diazaboroles and borinines. Known alternatively as isobutylboronic acid, it has been instrumental in the synthesis of potent and selective dipeptidyl boronic acid proteasome inhibitors, which hold potential as therapeutic agents for treating cancer and inflammatory diseases.
