Application
Iron(ii) iodide serves as an effective catalyst in organic reactions due to its unique chemical properties. When iron dissolves in a solution of iodine in water, evaporation of this solution results in the formation of green crystals of tetrahydrate iron(ii) iodide. The anhydrous form features a CdI2-type lattice and is paramagnetic, with an effective magnetic moment of 5.75 B.M. at 295°K.
