Application
Croscarmellose sodium serves as a critical pharmaceutical aid, primarily utilized as a disintegrant in the production of oral dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, and granules. In the formulation process, it enhances the breakup of these forms in the intestinal tract, ensuring that the active ingredients are released efficiently for absorption. Employed in both direct compression and wet granulation methods, croscarmellose sodium is incorporated at different stages to maximize its wicking and swelling properties, thus aiding in the disintegration process. Typically used in concentrations of 2% w/w for direct compression and 3% w/w for wet granulation, it can be used up to 5% w/w to achieve optimal disintegration, ensuring the effective delivery and efficacy of the medication.
