Crodamide ER is a versatile fatty acid amide developed from erucic acid, primarily sourced from vegetable oil. Its purpose is to serve as a slip additive in the plastic manufacturing industry, owing to its unique chemical properties. As a white, odorless waxy solid, Crodamide ER has the ability to dissolve in isopropanol, with limited solubility in alcohol and acetone. Its molecular structure, featuring a long, unsaturated C22 chain and a polar amine group, imparts high surface polarity, a significant melting point, and excellent thermal stability. These characteristics make Crodamide ER suitable for use in a wide range of industrial applications, including plastics, rubber, printing, and machinery. It is also employed as a plasticizer and in the preparation of natural mineral-modified degradable polymer flame-retardant composite materials. In addition, Crodamide ER is used in formulations to reduce friction in lubricants and anti-adhesive agents, enhancing the handling of films.
