Application
Benzo[h]quinoline serves multiple purposes, including investigating the mutagenic activities of benzo[f]quinoline, benzo[h]quinoline, and several of their derivatives in the strain TA 100 of Salmonella typhimurium. It is also employed in the detection and analysis of nitrogen-containing polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons within the gaseous byproducts of polymer thermal degradation using HPLC-fluorescence detection. Additionally, Benzo[h]quinoline acts as a key starting reagent in the synthesis of osmium and ruthenium complexes that contain an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand.
