    Application
Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) is a versatile synthetic rubber primarily used for its excellent oil and solvent resistance. Its effectiveness is due to the combination of butadiene and acrylonitrile, with varying acrylonitrile content affecting its properties. NBR is valued for its resilience to swelling when exposed to mineral oils and can withstand many solvents, making it suitable for diverse applications. Medium acrylonitrile NBR is commonly used in oil-resistant products such as shoe soles and kitchen mats, while high acrylonitrile grades are favored in demanding environments like oil well parts and fuel systems. It maintains flexibility at low temperatures, making it ideal for gaskets and O-rings, while its blendability with resins enhances its use in adhesives and industrial applications. Though it performs well against oils, NBR is less effective against strong oxidizers and certain solvents, yet its resistance to heat, combined with customizable properties through compounding, makes it a critical material in automotive, aerospace, and safety equipment industries.
