Application
3-(3,5-Di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-N'-[3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoyl]propanehydrazide serves as a high-performance antioxidant and metal deactivator, particularly valuable in polymer applications. This versatile compound, white to slightly yellowish in appearance, ensures enhanced stability and protection for polymers exposed to sour gasoline, thanks to its high molecular weight and hindered phenolic structure. By providing reliable antioxidant protection against immersion, dry-out, and aging in fuels and oils, it significantly improves the end-use heat and light stability of polymers, especially polyolefins, by effectively deactivating metal catalyst residues. Its synergistic use with Antioxidants 58 and 60 further amplifies its metal deactivation and heat resistance capabilities. Optimal in polymers like EPDM, crosslinked polyethylene, nylon, polyacetal, and nitrile, it is recommended for use at a concentration of 0.02-0.50% in plastics and 2 phr in rubber. Approved for food contact applications globally, this antioxidant is particularly efficient when integrated into polymeric substances for insulated electric wire and cable, due to its excellent melting properties that facilitate easy mixing without dispersion issues.
