This colorless liquid serves as a crucial component in the synthesis of polymers by forming homopolymers and copolymers with a variety of compounds, including (meth)acrylic acid, acrylates, and many vinyl derivatives. Its applications are wide-ranging, as it is used in the production of coating resins, plastic improvers, and reactive systems, among other products. Additionally, 2-EHMA is employed in textile treatment, paper, water additives, and lubricating oil formulations. It is also integral to the manufacture of adhesives and dental materials. While stable, precautions are necessary as it may polymerize upon light exposure and is sensitive to heat and incompatible with strong acids, oxidizing agents, and bases.
